Mammoth Beard Co. | Beard Wash | Warthog Ale Beard Soap

Mammoth Beard Co. | Beard Wash | Warthog Ale Beard Soap

A premium natural bar soap for the fur on your face. Made with Calgary's own Big Rock Warthog English Style Ale, and scented with our proprietary Cedarwood blend.

Although our moisturizing soap is gentle enough to be used on any of your furry parts, we recommend washing your beard no more then once or twice a week. This helps to ensure you don't strip the natural healthy oils from your mane which over time could lead to a brittle, dry beard.

We don't pinch pennies; we can guarantee that you won’t find any cheap filler oils, synthetic fragrances, or preservatives in any of our products. Lindsay’s formal training in aromatherapy gives us detailed, scientific knowledge of using essential oils safely, so you don’t have to worry about our blends causing irritation after repeated daily use, sun exposure, or sensitization from improperly diluted essential oils. We have an in-depth knowledge on the benefits of using carrier oils, waxes, and other botanical ingredients for skin and hair health.  Furthermore, we can absolutely ensure that every single ingredient in all of our products plays an integral role in the quality and effectiveness of the final brew.  Our oils and balms have been tried and tested on real beards through the worst that Canadian winters have to offer, and we are confident that you will find our products to be among the best out there.

All of our ingredients are sourced from companies we trust and have worked with for years. Quality is of the utmost importance to us.  Every ingredient in all of our products has a specific purpose. We don't dilute our oil with any cheap fillers, synthetic fragrances, or preservatives.

Essential oils: We have a background with formal training in Aromatherapy and a long history with essential oil use. We only use the highest quality essential oils in our products, and we tend to avoid synthetic fragrances like they are the plague. We are knowledgeable about safe essential oil dilutions and contraindications.

Argan Seed Oil: Also known as Moroccan oil, Argan oil has an outstanding ability to  maintain, moisturize, nourish, and repair dry, brittle hair and skin. Argan trees grow only in the South Western region of Morocco and as such the oil is one of the rarest in the world. It requires a very labor intensive process in order to extract the nut from the Argan fruit before pressing for oil. It has been used for centuries by Moroccan men and women for both cooking (roasted Argan oil) and skin and hair care (unroasted Argan oil). It is high in oleic and linoleic acids (omegas 9 and 6) and is beneficial in treating dry flaky skin, brittle hair, exzema, psoriasis and acne. It has been shown to offer some sun filtering properties which offer protection against UVA and UVB rays. It has a high content of naturally occurring tocopherols (vitamin e) which make it a stable oil with a long shelf life.
Our Argan Oil purchases support a women’s cooperative. Their sales of Argan Oil have transformed the economy of their village.

Jojoba Oil: Not actually an oil, but a liquid wax, and is molecularly similar to the esters we produce in our skin. It is non-allergenic and non-comedogenic (won't clog pores). Jojoba oil penetrates the hair follicle and strengthens while maintaining elasticity and softeness.

Hazelnut Oil:  An excellent emollient and moisturizer, absorbs quickly and is full of beneficial essential fatty acids which help to maintain the health of your beard and the skin underneath. Hazelnut oil is slightly astringent, so it is helpful in preventing breakouts. It has been reported to have some sun filtering properties.

Hemp Seed Oil:  Hemp seed oil is a powerful restorative that works to strengthen and repair hair follicles as well as protect against dryness. It is high in proteins, and Omegas 3,6 and 9 which can help to stimulate hair growth,

Camelia Seed Oil: Also known as tea seed oil; for centuries camellia seed oil has been used as a traditional hair conditioner. It is rich in antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. It helps to condition the hair shaft, stimulate circulation in the skin, and promote healthy hair growth by preventing breakage and split ends.

Vitamin E:  Acts as a natural antioxidant, protecting the epidermis from environmental damage, UV rays and pollutants. It prevents the peroxidation of fats which helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and strengthens the skin's barrier function.

Shea Butter: Our Shea butter is sourced ethically from Ghana where it supports the Tapko Widow's cooperative where women are paid a fair and direct wage. The production of Shea Butter has transformed the economic health of the village, helping to fund school fee's, health care and better nutrition.

Bees Wax: Bees wax helps to lock in moisture and provide an extra layer of protection from the elements. It has anti-bacterial properties and can be helpful in reducing dry itchy skin.  It gives our balm a medium hold allowing you to tame any frizz while maintaining a subtle shine. Our beeswax is locally sourced from our pals over at Fallentimber Meadery
